YIN YOGA AND DANTIAN GONG
Connection & Cultivation of the Lower Dantian
Yin Yoga Immersion Weekend – Practice & Theory
11-13 September, 2026
Homeplace, Belgrade, Serbia
The lower abdominal region (below the navel), known as the Lower Dantian (xia dantian 下丹田), acts as the body’s energetic root and serves as the source from which this process—as the center of gravity and reservoir of prenatal Qi—nourishes the Middle (Heart) and Upper (Mind) Dantians.
It is from this region of the body that all the energy animating it originates. It is surrounded by various muscle groups and connective tissues. This complex network of tissues is connected to most of the body’s myofascial lines. The more the nerve pathways that establish this connection develop, the more apparent the relationship with this space becomes. In the internal arts, the lower Dantian refers to the source of Qi (氣) – the area from which it emanates, to which it returns, and where it accumulates and transforms. Its activation or reconsolidation restores its original density, which is cultivated through breathing, stillness, and focused attention – characteristics of the internal arts. This process of involution is often called “the return to the source.”

WEEKEND IMMERSION PROGRAMME
FRIDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 2026
17.00-19.00 – PRACTICE
- Preparation for the Lower Dantian practice: Yin Yoga & Following the Ox
This preliminary meditation practice has two objectives: first, to define the boundaries of the lower Dantian, and second, to calm the mind. By slowing down all bodily rhythms, the practitioner will find the calm necessary to refocus on the Lower Dantian.
This two-hour class includes a Yin Yoga sequence for the main bony structures and joints surrounding the spine and hips, as well as a meditation called “Following the Ox.”
SATURDAY, 12 SEPTEMBER 2026
09.00-12.00 – PRACTICE
- Warm-up Routine: Patting the Eight Hollows (Pai Ba Xu 拍八虚)
Pai Ba Xu is a specific tapping/self-massage technique that is highly effective at clearing stagnant Qi from the body.
- Tao of Yoga
This postural practice is a harmonious blend of Yin Yoga and Taoist movements, such as Ji-ben Gong and Song Gong. This combination of exercises targets the body’s main myofascial lines, contributing to the connection and release of the entire connective tissue network.
Break: 10 min
- Reverse Breathing – Meditation
This breathing practice lies at the heart of cultivating the lower Dantian. In many internal arts traditions, the main aims of reverse breathing are to develop control over the breath and bodily mechanics to gather and circulate Qi more consciously. It strengthens the lower abdomen and coordinates the abdominal magnetic field as well as the subtle internal movements during inhalation and exhalation.
14.00-14.50 – THEORY
- Lower Dantian – Anatomy to Energetic
An introduction to the Lower Dantian and the various physiological and anatomical correspondences within the body, and its function as a storehouse of primordial energy (Jing or essence).
Break: 10 min
14.50-17.00 – PRACTICE
- Fundamental principles of Qi Gong
A Qi Gong Session to open up the spine and connect with the centre of gravity – Lower Dantian

Ting – attentiveness (聽) refers to ‘the energy of listening’. This practice encourages calmness and receptivity, key elements of Taoist meditation, allowing practitioners to attune themselves to the subtle flow of qi and natural rhythms.
Song – Often translated as ‘relaxation’ or ‘loosening’ (鬆), is a fundamental principle which refers to a state of effortless relaxation/release. Song is the relaxed, receptive state; Ting is the listening that becomes possible because of that state.

About Teachers:
Sebastian Pucelle
Studying Yoga since 1995, his personal journey through Yoga started with Ashtanga, Hatha and Yin-Yoga.
For the past 3 decades, Sebastian has practiced Martial Art, Shiatsu, Yoga and Meditation, refining and stabilizing his research to the study of Yin-Yoga as a foundation, to sustain and promote a holistic life-style. Combining western anatomy and meridians theory approach, the practice of Yin Yoga comes to be a potent healing, and psycho-spiritual system.
Discovering Yin Yoga in London with Sarah Powers in 2006 at Triyoga Studio, Sebastian was inspired to integrate a more contemplative/meditative mind in his Yoga Practice. Sebastian has been assisting Paul & Suzee Grilley (Initiators of Yin-Yoga) in their training and continue to study under their prominent expertise and fun-loving teaching.
His teaching is enhanced by 8 years of experience as a body therapist (qualified Shiatsu practitioner) and martial art instructor, (nidan in Taido, Japanese Martial art).
Another major influence is until now the study of Buddhism. His main enthusiasm since 2002 is the practice of Vipassana (Goenka Style) and Samatha Meditation (Ayya Khema – Pak Auk Sayadaw Method) or concentration meditation. (Leigh Brasington – Tina Rasmussen & Stephen Snyder) as well as exploring Samatha from a Tibetan Buddhist approach, with practices such as Settling the Mind in his natural state or Awareness of Awareness (Alan Wallace).
Murielle Burellier
Murielle’s yoga journey began in London early 90’s when she discovered an old yoga book in a second hand shop. It ignited a deep interest for this practice that led to attending regular classes over the years experimenting with different styles like Hatha, Iyengar and Prana Flow, she certified as a Yoga Teacher in 2004 at International Sivananda Vedanta Yoga Ashram.
She first came across Yin Yoga in London first attending a class of Sarah Powers in 2006, then took a longer training with Victor Chng in 2009 and later studied with Paul and Suzee Grilley (Initiators of Yin Yoga) in Singapore, Kho Samui and California deepening her understanding and practice in this form of yoga, she still develops and expands her knowledge on the spiritual path with her natural and discerning intuition.
She is naturally drawn to a meditative and contemplative approach, after studying Vajrayana “The Diamond Way” for over 5 years in London, Murielle feel innately connected to the Buddha’s teaching rather than any particular school, adopting the practice of Yin Yoga to implement her aspiration and research on the spiritual path. Her approach is gentle and compassionate focusing on the breath, letting go and letting be, which encompasses so well the essence of the Yin-Yoga practice.
She has also studied Prenatal Yoga and offers a safe class environment to bring a sense of well being and connection during this important transition time of childbearing.
Based in between South-East Asia and Europe Murielle has been teaching for the past years in different Yoga venues to students from all walks of life and co-teaches with Sebastian in all the different Yoga events.
YIN YOGA I DANTIAN GONG
Povezivanje sa Donjim Dantianom i njegovo kultivisanje
Vikend uranjanja u Yin Yogu – praksa i teorija
11-13. septembar 2026.
Homeplace, Beograd, Srbija
Donji deo stomaka, ispod pupka, poznat kao Donji Dantian (xia dantian 下丹田), predstavlja energetski koren tela.
